I Have Good News and Bad News…

I bit off more than I could chew. Literally and figuratively. New job. Broken heart (again). Navigating how to get back on track after months of complete derailment. I lost 13 pounds since my Facebook post, and 10 of those pounds are back. Everything stopped. Low-carb eating turned into old habits, morning exercise morphed into hitting the snooze button, and so here we are again. Basically back to square one.

Romans 8:1-2  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death.

The good news is there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus so there is none in my life either. There are restarts in life. So here we go. So I said to myself, Let’s begin again! I have six months to my birthday and my goal is still the same.

What am I going to do differently?

Glad you asked. I realized that it is going to have to be a team effort. Both God and I are needed to make this work. My body, soul, and spirit must be in line and on His divine path. If you are like me, you plan then execute the plan. What does it look like to let the Holy Spirit within us, guide us to accomplish the task at hand? For me it just happens to be weight loss, for you it could be something else.

John 16:13  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

I began to notice that, My prayer life is shifting with my increasing awareness of the Spirit of God within me. God is here with me now. I John 4:4 says You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. So now I am abiding in the rest of the Lord to guide me through this process. What does that like practically?

  1. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you with what you need for the day. I like to do a check in in the morning. When I wake-up I “imagine” the Holy Spirit and I waking up together. The Holy Spirit never leaves you so no matter how you feel, you are a team. You are in constant partnership with the Holy Spirit. Team Cozette wakes up and the two teammates talk and get ready for the day. In a brief conversation internally, I ask the Holy Spirit what do you have on our agenda today. Or if I have already been directed to take care of some things, I will ask the Holy Spirit for  the attributes I may need during my day (like strength, peace, wisdom, etc.)
  2. Make split second prayers to the Holy Spirit at any moment to aid you throughout the day. Tempted? Pray for strength. Discouraged? Pray for hope. You can say, Holy Spirit fill me with hope. Holy Spirit be my strength. He loves to energize the fruits of His Spirit within you.
  3. Thank the Holy Spirit for the blessings you recognize He is providing right now. Even Jesus said in John 16:7, “But I tell you the truth; it is better for you that I go away, for if I may not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you, and if I go on, I will send Him unto you.Why did He say this? Jesus knew that we need the Holy Spirit to maintain Victory on earth.

I am a team, and my Team Captain is the Spirit of the Living God. My team is not fighting for victory. We fight from the place of victory. My team is going from Glory to Glory. I will keep you posted on the battle details.

*Spoiler Alert-We have already won the war!

I am like you, I love and desire to be loved. I hope, dream, feel, cry and I long to have my dreams realized. It is my objective to speak with passion, love, and truth. Living a life of love (my life’s goal) is the single most challenging initiative that I know of. Also, it is the most rewarding ambition. The mandate is clear. The task is at hand. It takes building an enormous amount of faith to get anything accomplished in this life. So let’s do it together! When I am not writing about faith, hope, or love, you can find me sipping on a delicious cup of tea, while snuggling up with my favorite book. Or, of course, shopping for shoes.
